Kai Tsugaru Ryokan

Description

Located 50 minutes by train from Aomori Airport, KAI Tsugaru is a hot spring ryokan in northern Japan. The ryokan is a quiet place designed for guests to get the most out of the local culture, from apple-scented baths fed by the famous Owani Hot Spring to Tsugaru shamisen lute concerts in front of walls depicting Tsugaru’s dynamic coastal scenery.

Refined architecture and Japanese style artworks set the elegant ambience of KAI Tsugaru. Cypress baths and “Shamisen” (local traditional three-stringed guitars) performances as well as seafood specialities add to the pleasure.

Located 50 minutes from Aomori airport and Shin-Aomori station, Kai is a perfect base for tourists wishing to enjoy the beautiful nature of Aomori, such as Oirase rapids, Hakkoda and Shirakami-Sanchi.

Complimentary shuttle bus from JR Owani Onsen station is available.

There are 41 rooms that offer many options, such as rooms that feature Western-style bedrooms and living areas, and rooms that come with their own outdoor hot spring bath.

wellness

Bath halls feature large windows that look out onto beautiful scenes of nature, from lush greenery in the spring and summer to the vibrant colors of fall, and the thick blankets of snow that cover the Japanese garden in the winter. After warming themselves in the cypress-lined baths, guests are invited to relax at the lounge while sipping on a refreshing local beverage, such as burdock tea or an apple cider vinegar concoction.

cherry blossom

Kai Tsugaru, in the Aomori Prefecture is just the right place for admiring the cherry blossom.

The blossoming of the cherry trees is a magical moment waiting to be discovered by you and with hundreds of varieties of tree throughout the country there are shades to suit everyone from white to pale pink to very intense pink.

The most popular variety is somei yoshino whose flowers are adorned with five subtly shaded white petals tinged with pale pink. Kikuzakura is a variety whose flowers can have up to 100 petals. However, regardless of the colour or number of petals, the magic is still there, and no one can remain insensitive to the spectacle of these thousands of flowers provided by nature.
